At some point in the life of every Christian that person must mature from a Sunday School faith into a faith that will sustain them. If they do not they run the risk of losing their faith in times of trouble or becoming spiritually immature.
Our approach to the youth at Emmanuel is to engage difficult faith issues so as to address the struggles that will bring one to mature faith. There are three distinct yet intertwined aspects of this process.
First there is relationship building with the youth to each other and also with the adult leaders.
Second there are the spiritual questions and discussions encountered in the Sunday school hour meant to challenge one to mature in thinking.
Third is the opportunity for service. If faith is simply about thought it is fruitless and therefore worthless. For one to become mature one must not only believe but be transformed in thinking, attitude, and action. That is our goal for every youth affiliated with Emmanuel.
